ZDF is Germany's biggest public broadcaster. But younger viewers in the target group aged 20 to 30 are spending less time watching TV. How do you increase the suspense online? By turning users into detectives and using cookies in a completely new way. Users didn't have to click their way through to the next clue, instead we kept tracking them down on major websites for one week by using intelligent retargeting. In a nutshell: a thrilling crime story combined with innovative target group control.
